New
for Grand Designs, Did you see us at Grand
Designs ?
Thank
you for your interest in my work. Supplying high quality pictures
is very important to me as well trying to introduce awareness in
the planet. The web site www.fromtheblue.co.uk, shows some of the
current collection from the Myanmar, Southern Thailand, Southern
India, Africa, The Andaman Islands, Egypt, Sudan Mexico, Seychelles,
and Sulawesi. Please email should you have any question or would
like to see a image not shown on this site, once you have finished
looking around. Please also follow the links to
lastrefuge
, Last Refuge hold a full range of work not
shown on this site at the present. Just go to new photographers.
I
have also added two articles, which I hope you will find interesting.
I am often asked which place I would want to go next or where I
would like to see again? I am never sure how to answer, but I want
to see more of this amazing planet with its incredible life..
Framed limited edition prints.
Some
fantastic new ways of displaying / finishing images.
Please
do contact me about any questions or to discuss your own preference
with any print. I will also supply work to order. However due to
the size and nature of photographic material it is not possible
to supply unframed photographic prints, I therefore now offer a
range of other option. Prints start at £75.00. Signed Limited
editions prints also have a letter about the picture. I do supply
larger images as well as more than one print per frame. I am happy
to also offer inkjet prints up to 1 meter wide. These are posted
to you in a roll and can be sold as a print only, reducing the cost
to you as well as giving you fuller control over the finished picture.
I
do not wish to supply goods that do not reflect the very best standard
of finish and therefore I only use the best craft people to do the
framing, printing etc. I understand that this can lead to a higher
price but I have spent thousands getting the image and I would like
you to enjoy it for as long as you want to.
As
each picture is done to order, I am able to make every reasonable
effort to supply each to the client's own requirements. i.e. signed
or not, title, as well as size.
Please
confirm price at time of order and as almost all are supplied to
order, I ask that consideration be given to this, and please allow
up to month for an order. I am happy to take requests for more urgent
orders and of course will make every effort to help or answer any
questions..
Photographer from the blue, Ed Whiting.
I
have been diving and taking underwater photographs for a number
of years. This has meant that I have been very lucky enough to travel
to some of the remotest parts of the world. Sadly it is becoming
apparent that the effects people have on the land extend to the
sea and it is only with knowledge and education that this destruction
can be controlled.
I
have been to Myanmar twice in the last five years. From the moment
you enter this country you have the feeling of going back in time.
I'm not saying this is a backward country just that there is a whole
different pace and set of priorities there. The unfortunate thing
is that catching up with the western world is a high priority due
to the assumed wealth and happiness. Items that we take for granted
like fridges and plastic are entering Myanmar at an alarming rate,
but as we are learning to our cost in the west, this progress comes
with a high price.
Divers
or tourists rarely visit the Andaman Islands and therefore there
are very few photographs of the area. This trip was undertaken as
I have a passion for seeing and photographing places that are intact
and reflect a part of the world, which remains in its own time.
My aim is to build a large portfolio to convey the waters around
the world. More recently I traveled back to the southern Red Sea.
This has to be one of the most dived seas in the world. In the years
that I have been diving, I have seen the decline in these waters;
I am concerned for the long term. I question if my children will
see these wonders when 80 percent of the world's reefs are in the
worlds most populated areas.
I
started by taking photographs on land so when I started diving I
wanted to take photographs underwater. I now try hard to do both
as I feel it is as important to see the people and places in order
to understand the underwater environment.
I
sell limited edition print, posters and cards through my own company,
from the blue. My hope is to be able to spend more time, in more
places, in more countries taking photographs. I want to be able
show, or remind others of the beauty, as I truly believe that the
growth in population, as well as pollution, is changing our planet.
